Microsoft - Windows -BSOD

History of the Blue Screen of Death

This history of the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) shows how they have changed a lot but their basic meaning and messages have stayed fairly constant. It is still a screen no computer user wants to see. Below you will see a selection of blue screens of death from Windows 1 through to Windows 8.

Windows 1 and 2 Blue Screen of Death

Window 1’s screen is probably the scariest screen with an apparent indecipherable code.

Windows 95 and 98 Blue Screen of Death

This is first blue screen of death that I can remember. Microsoft certainly made this message look a lot friendlier but the error code would certainly take an expert to decipher.

Windows 2000 Blue Screen of Death

In my opinion this screen took a step backwards and looks worse than the 98 screen. At least Microsoft does provide some common steps to resolve the problem

Windows XP, Vista and 7 Blue Screen of Death

Microsoft does provide lot of informations and some  steps to resolve the problem of system crash

Windows 8 Blue Screen of Death

This is most recent Blue Screen of Death that is featured in Windows 8. I’ll never forget that first time I saw this message in an early beta version of Windows 8(not  now). I guess Microsoft wanted to create a more user-friendly message.
